ITINERARY

DAY 1 – SOFIA  (BULGARIA)

Arriving, transfer to the hotel and city tour of Sofia in appropriate time. Could be in the evening. It is a walking tour and is for about 2 hours in the historical center of Sofia. The city is one of the oldest urban centers in Europe and its famous with its thermal springs, the mountain Vitosha and as the city where has been proclaimed the first Edict of tolerance against the Christians in Roman Empire. Overnight in Sofia.

DAY 2 – SOFIA – PLOVDIV – SOFIA (BULGARIA)

Start at 9:00 and transfer to Plovdiv for about 1,30 hours. Plovdiv is the Oldest European city – 8000 years old and is European capital of Culture for 2019. Plovdiv is MUST SEE city, and the most beautiful in Bulgaria. City tour of the Old town, the craft streets and the main Market street is included for the afternoon.

DAY 3 – SOFIA – RILA MONASTERY – SKOPJE (NORTH MACECDONIA)

Start of the day 9:00. Transfer to Rila Monastery for about 1 hour and 30 min. Rila monastery is the oldest, biggest and most important monastery in Bulgaria, declared as UNESCO site. The beginning of its history is at 10th century. It is the most visited site in Bulgaria, because of the unique history and architectural style. The monastery is located deep in Rila mountain, the highest in Bulgaria and SE Europe.

Lunch in the area of the Monastery and transfer to Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia for about 3 hours and 30 min.  On the way to there we will cross the beautiful and rural countryside of Macedonia and will speak about the Great Macedonian Question. After the accommodation and rest time, we will do the city tour, walking and with car for about 2 hours. The tour is very interesting after the sunset as well.

DAY 4 – SKOPJE – OHRID (NORTH MACECDONIA)

Start at 9:00. Transfer to Skopje, crossing the western part of the country for about 2 hours and 30 min. Short stop in Tetovo to see the Painted Mosque –unique temple from the Ottoman period. Lunch in Ohrid. Ohrid is declared as UNESCO site both as Cultural and Natural World Heritage. The lake with the same name is the Oldest lake in Europe more than a million years old. The city is with old and great History, as political, religious and administrative center in SW Balkans. On the end of 10th, the begging of 11th century Ohrid is a capital of First Bulgarian Empire. Ohrid has been seat of Ohrid Archbishopric, successor of Justiniana Prima, the first independent autocephalous church. Ocvernight in Ohrid.

DAY 5 – OHRID – TIRANA (ALBANIA)

Start at 8:30 and transfer to Tirana, the capital of Albania for about 3,30 hours. City tour of Tirana for about 3 hours with visit of the Spy museum and the most interesting sites.

DAY 6 – TIRANA – PRIZREN (KOSOVO)

Prizren, Kosovo

Start at 9:00 Transfer to Prizren, Kosovo for about 3 hours. Prizren is one of the most colorful Balkan cities, full of history and traces from many cultures. The atmosphere there is so Balkan, combining the Old and New, the Orthodox and Muslim, the stopped and hurry time. Prizren has been important in the History of Bulgaria, Serbia, Ottoman Empire and Albania. Lunch there and city tour in the afternoon. Overnight in Prizren.

DAY 7 – PRIZREN – VISOKI DECHANI MONASTERY (KOSOVO) – PODGORICA (MONTENEGRO)

Start at 8:00. First stop is the medieval monastery Visoki Dechani, which is one of the most beautiful on the Balkans. The transfer to there is about 1 hour and 30 min. The Monastery is with unique architectural style and murals from 14th century. The area of the monastery is guarded by heavy armed KFOR corp. Driving through the highest border crossing, we will enter in Montenegro. The transfer from Decani Monastery to Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro is for about 5 hours. We could stop on the way for lunch or to have packed lunch. In the late afternoon we will arrive in Podgorica. Free time there.

DAY 8 – PODGORICA – BUDVA – KOTOR (MONTENEGRO)

Budva Bay, Montenegro

Start at 9:00. Transfer to Budva for about 1 hour. Half day there with a pleasant walking in the Old town and Lunch. Transfer to Kotor. City tour of the Old town of Kotor and enjoying the amazing Kotor bay.

DAY 9 – KOTOR – MOSTAR (BIH) – SARAJEVO (BIH)

Start at 8:00. Transfer to Mostar, Bosnia and Hercegovina for about 3 hours. Tour of Mostar and Lunch. Mostar is the second most recognizable place on the Balkans after Dubrovnik. The Old Bridge over the green waters of Drina river overwhelm with vision and stories. We’ll cross the bridge, of course and will enjoy the preserved Ottoman atmosphere. Transfer to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Hercegovina for about 2 hours. Free time in the evening.

DAY 10 – SARAJEVO (BIH)

Start at 10:00. City tour of Sarajevo for at least 4 hours. The places, which are included in the tour are so many and we will choose the most interesting for you. For shure I want to show you the “Bridge of Assassination”, from where WW1 started; The Old town, The Olympic Games structures, The “Tunnel of Life” – the amazing story of the human faith, hope and power during the siege, the Grave Yard on a Football field and some other interesting places in Sarajevo. Lunch in a restaurant in the city center with very curious story. Free time in the afternoon.

DAY 11 – SARAJEVO – PLITVICE LAKES (CROATIA)

Start at 8:00. After the breakfast we will start our trip trough the Bosnian countryside. The final stop for the day is Plitvice lakes, Croatia, the most recognizable nature site on the Balkans. Depending of the time we will go to see the lakes this day or in the morning of the next one.

DAY 12 – PLITVICE LAKES – ZAGREB (CROATIA)

The starting time depends of our previous day, the final point on this day is Zagreb and will be good if we have more time for the capital. The city tour of Zagreb will be a pleasant walk in the historical part of the city and with coffee and food tasting stops.

DAY 13 – ZAGREB – BELGRADE (SERBIA)

Start at 8:00 and transfer to Belgrade for about 4 hours. City tour of Belgrade with visit of the Fortress, the city center and the museum of Tito. The full story of the formal Yugoslavia told by a local guide.

DAY 14 – BELGRADE – NIS (SERBIA)- SOFIA (BULGARIA)

Start at 8:30 and transfer to Nis for about 2,30 hours. Nis is one of the biggest Serbian cities with some very interesting sites like the Scull tower and the Concentration camp. Lunch in Nis and transfer to Sofia for about 2 hours.
