It is one very interesting tour, which combines URBEX and History sites, but both are connected with the very first steps of the Bulgarian Empire on the present day territory of Bulgaria. The first stop is the amazing monument in Shumen, the heaviest communist one in the World. With its transformers look, the monument is remarkable and must see spot. The second stop is the UNESCO site Madara Horesman, carved in a vertical rock in the beginning of 9th century. The Horesman is the only one and unique, declared as the Symbol of Bulgaria.
It is a great jump into the beginning of the Bulgarian State on the present day territory of Bulgaria. First stop is in Shumen, where in 1981 was inaugurated the 52 meters high monument with oficial name “Founders of Bulgarian State”
The date was not accidental, in the communist times the historians believed that 681 year was the year of foundation of Bulgaria, so they choose to commemorate the 1300th anniversary of it. The monument is the heaviest communist monument in the World. 21 figures and mosaic, which is the biggest triptych in Europe is fascinated with its composition.
The monument is giant and could be seen from 30 km distance.
Not so far from Shumen is located the symbol of Bulgaria – Madara Horesman. Included in UNESCO, the Rock relief is carved in 8th century by the first Bulgarian Rulers to show the power and the autority of Bulgarian Empire. The relief is unique for Europe and marks the roots of our great state.
